There Are So Many Reasons to Love You
Sitting on a grassy hillside, she was next to God, who was in the middle of explaining the images projected in the night sky. Surrounded by twinkling stars, vignettes of her life projected on the canvas of the heavens like a slideshow.
"Love," God said, his loving voice a gentle balm as he turned to face her, "there is something I would like to talk with you about today."
"Oh," a flicker of worry rose within her, fearing she had done something wrong.
"Yes, love," God replied, pausing to gaze at the passing moments above them before returning his attention to her, "I wanted to tell you that I appreciate all of the love that you have shown the world. It is difficult, I know. It is a challenge to bring love forward, to show love to others. Not to mention while you are facing challenges, struggles, and hurts. I want to thank you for being a light in the darkness."
As his words soaked deep into her heart, she began to glow a soft white light, illuminating the night around them.
Her cheeks flushed a soft red, "Thank you," she whispered, feeling embarrassed.
"Love, more importantly, I want to assure you that," God paused, ensuring his message would be received with the tenderness he intended. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, "I want to be sure that you are loving you, too." Her head fell and tears streamed down her cheeks and landed between her feet. "Love," God's voice was soft and tender, with his arm still around her, he began to glow a soft golden yellow. "Please be kind to yourself," he whispered. The glow expanded around them forming a delicate orb of healing and comforting energy. "You may only pour from a full cup," God said, a phrase she used often. Her tears turned to sobs as she released and released into the safe sanctuary of God's sacred space. "Love, you need not be so hard on yourself. Love can grow from within too." He pointed at her heart. "You believe, in here, that you are not worthy of love because you have not given enough of your love yet." He paused to allow her to release more emotions. "Love, you need not do anything to be worthy of love but exist. You are already doing that. For the love you give will be returned to you," he paused again for emphasis, "if you allow it."
God held her in his golden orb of light for several hours as she released and released the emotions and beliefs that had been blocking love from reaching her heart. When those emotions were released, a wave of fear rose to the surface, a fear of being loved, a fear of being seen, a fear, originating from her childhood, that love was unsafe, love was dangerous, love was abusive.
The light in God's orb shifted from gold to lavender, then to a soft pink.
"My love, love is kind, love is tender, love is understanding." God's words communicated to her soul through a silent transmission. "My love, it is safe to love, it is kind to love."
She looked up at God, the stars shimmering above them, she whispered, "I have a lot to learn, I don't know how to love me."
"I will show you," God replied, extending his hand, palm up, an invitation for her to place her hand in his for him to hold. Apprehensively, she reached out and gently laid her hand on his. When she touched his energy, all of the reasons that God loved her appeared in the sky, image after image, moment after moment, detail after detail, characteristic after characteristic. "There are so many reasons to love you, I cannot choose only one."
